Tour and Jamboree Dates

The National Scout Jamboree is the premier event put on every four years by the Boy Scouts of America at the Summit Bechtel National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, National Scout Jamboree Overview. Over 40,000 Scouts and Scouters attended the 2013 Jamboree, and all the excitement of past Jamboree will be incorporated with new themes and shows. What goes on at a Jamboree? Everything that the combined resources of the National Council plus hundreds of the best volunteers from every local council can provide! For examples, 5.2 miles of zip line, canopy tours, rifle shooting, stand up paddle board, 36 and 50 mile mountain bike trails, bicycle motocross, rock climbing, rappelling towers, clay and trap shooting, fishing, dragon boat racing, scuba diving, kayaking, white water rafting, daily stage shows, OA American Indian Village and the Merit Badge Midway. Plus much more!

The Golden Empire Council will be taking 4 Troops and a Crew to the 2017 National Jamboree and you can be part of the adventure. Prior to the National Jamboree, you will experience a pre-Jamboree Tour. Possible cities or locations the contingent may visit are New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Gettysburg and the Washington, D.C. area.

Boy Scouts will be placed in a troop consisting of 36 Scouts and 4 adult leaders each. Venturing Scouts will be placed in a crew consisting of 8 Scouts and 2 adults leaders. Although the council has committed to have one Venturing crew additional crews (each crew has 8 youth/2 adults) could be added based on sign-ups. Once the units are formed and leaders selected you will receive information through your Jamboree unit leadership. Slots on the GEC 2017 National Scout Jamboree contingent are prioritized in the order they are received on a paid basis.
